When do these Hololuminescent™ Display (HLD) units ship?
HLD 16” and HLD 27” ship Jan 2026. HLD 86” ship Spring 2026.
Where does HLD ship to?
We ship internationally. Note that orders shipped outside the U.S. and Hong Kong might be subjected to local customs fees, duties, or taxes.
For all orders made within the U.S, applicable states sales tax will also fall under the buyer's responsibility.
What’s included in the box?
• 1 x Hololuminescent™ display with VESA mount. • 1x Raspberry Pi 4 demo media player • 1 x Pre-loaded demo content on a thumb drive • 1 x HDMI Cable (79" / 2m) • 1 x Installation & Wall Mounting Guide For large-scale deployments and remote management, the HLD is compatible with a variety of managed media players and CMS like Brightsign
What's the difference between a Light Field Display and a Hololuminescent™ Display (HLD)?
Think of our displays as two branches of the same tree: • Hololuminescent™ Displays (HLD) → For effortless holographic presence, anywhere. Used for high-traffic engagement and presence. • Light Field Displays → For advanced 3D visualization, interaction, and research. Used for industrial visualization. Learn more here.
How does the HLD™ technology work?
Hololuminescent™ Display technology builds on a decade of holographic and light field experience and intellectual property.. This new HLD technology combines a fixed holographic volume baked into the display's optical stack, creating true depth and dimension that makes people, characters, and products appear to float in space.
The HLD does not require eye-tracking cameras. It is intended to work as well for one person as it does for dozens of people at the same time. The technology behind the Looking Glass hardware and software is protected by patents granted and pending around the world. Learn more here.
What computer do I need to run the HLD?
The HLD includes a Raspberry Pi 4 for demo and experimentation purposes. For long-term installations, we recommend using a digital signage solution such as BrightSign or Scala. These solutions must support: • 1080p output for the HLD 16" • 4K output for the HLD 27" and HLD 86"
Both HDMI and DisplayPort (DP) connections are supported.
Other computer configurations (e.g., Windows PC or macOS) are also compatible, provided they meet the same resolution requirements (1080p for HLD 16", 4K for HLD 27" and HLD 86") via HDMI or USB-C.
Does the HLD have audio playback?
The standard Hololuminescent™ Displays do not have built-in speakers. However, you can connect a speaker for audio playback via the 3.5mm AUX jack for audio out.
How do I deploy content for the HLD?
For demo and experimentation, you can use the included Raspberry Pi 4. Simply load your content onto a USB drive (following our upcoming guides) and insert it into the Raspberry Pi. For permanent installations, we recommend a professional digital signage solution such as BrightSign.
The HLD displays standard 2D video enhanced with shadows and lighting effects that make the content appear as if it’s on a holographic stage. You can create these videos in several ways: •AI video generation(e.g., Kling, Veo, Runway) •Real-world footage(e.g., iPhone, DSLR) •Digital renderings(e.g., Blender, Cinema4D, Maya)
To add the lighting effects, we will provide an Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects template along with a user guide.
In addition, you can build real-time applications using tools like Unity3D and Unreal Engine. Tutorials and documentation available here.
Can I make custom backgrounds for my HLD?
At the moment, all HLDs come with a pre-set alcove (box).
